🔪 How to Make Cashew Chicken Wraps
Grab a big bowl and whisk together soy sauce, peanut butter, honey, rice vinegar, garlic, sesame oil, and crushed red pepper. Drop in the cubed chicken breast, then toss so the pieces are coated. Set the bowl aside for a few minutes while you get the pan ready.
Spray a large nonstick skillet and set it over medium heat. Add in the white parts of the green onions and a bit more garlic for good measure. Sprinkle with salt and pepper, then stir everything together. Keep things moving every so often, and let the onions turn a little golden—this takes about two or three minutes.
Now it’s time for the chicken and sauce. Pour it all into the skillet. Stir now and then so nothing sticks and every piece cooks evenly. Let the chicken cook through and watch the sauce thicken, about eight to ten minutes.
Once the chicken is done, take the skillet off the heat. Spoon the warm chicken mixture into Bibb lettuce leaves. Toss on the green onion tops and a handful of chopped cashews for crunch. Serve while it’s still warm and enjoy every bite—these wraps are just as fun to look at as they are to eat!

⭐ Tips and Tricks for Perfect Cashew Chicken Every Time⭐
Get the Chicken Just Right
- Start with fresh, boneless, skinless chicken breast cut into even, bite-sized pieces.
- Sauté in a hot, nonstick skillet with a light coat of cooking spray so you get flavor without extra oil.
- Don’t crowd the pan—if you’re doubling the recipe, cook in two batches for best browning.
- Toss the chicken in the sauce before cooking. This step soaks flavor into every morsel.
Stir-Fry Secrets for Tender Results
- High heat is your friend. Keep the skillet over medium to medium-high and let the chicken sear briefly before stirring. This gives you those flavorful bits that make stir-fries so tasty. But don’t walk away—stir often for even cooking!
- Stir in the white part of the green onions and garlic first for bigger flavor.
- Add the cashew sauce just as the chicken is nearly done to prevent it from thickening too much.
Pro Tip: Warm the Cashew Butter
Cold cashew butter can clump and can be a pain to mix. Microwave it for 15-20 seconds before blending with the soy, honey, and vinegar. You’ll get a velvety, even sauce every time without extra stirring.
How to Keep Cashews Crunchy
No one likes soggy nuts. For the best texture, add the chopped cashews last, just before serving. This leaves them crisp with each bite. If you want even more crunch, toast the cashews in a dry skillet for 1-2 minutes.
Sauce Wins: Bold Flavor Without Extra Calories
- You don’t need heavy oils or thick breading to get big taste. The mix of soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, and just a dash of crushed red pepper gives your dish plenty of savor and zing. Use low-sodium soy if you want to dial back the salt.
- Try adding a splash of lime juice for a fresh, tangy kick.
- If you like it spicier, go up to ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes.
The Wrap: Crisp and Fresh Every Time
Pick sturdy, fresh Bibb lettuce. Clean and dry each leaf well before filling. If prepping wraps ahead, store the chicken and toppings separate from the lettuce, and assemble last-minute to keep it all crisp.

Whether you’re craving a touch of heat, want to try new veggies, or need allergy-friendly swaps, simple tweaks can create totally new results. Let’s look at the easiest and tastiest ways to keep your dinner lineup exciting.
Choose Your Veggie Add-Ins
Amp up the crunch and color. Think beyond lettuce and green onions—toss in a rainbow of crunchy vegetables for a boost of nutrition and fun.
- Bell peppers: Thinly sliced red, yellow, or orange for a sweet pop.
- Shredded carrots: Easy to sprinkle right in, bringing a hint of color and sweetness.
- Cucumber matchsticks: Bring a crisp, refreshing snap.
- Snow peas or snap peas: Add earthy sweetness and extra green to each bite.
Swap based on what’s in your fridge, or mix a few for a fun flavor combination.
Play with Protein Options
Not a fan of chicken? No problem. This sauce is versatile and brings out the best in lots of proteins.
- Tofu: Cube and sauté for a plant-based wrap everyone can enjoy.
- Shrimp: Quick-cooking and pairs well with the nutty sauce.
- Turkey or lean pork: A fresh twist that keeps the recipe lean.
Trying these options is as easy as subbing them for chicken, and the instructions barely change.

Spice It Up (or Down)
Everyone has their perfect spice level. Dial the heat to your liking so each bite is just right.
- Use less red pepper for milder wraps.
- Add a squirt of sriracha, extra chili flakes, or chopped jalapeño if you crave a kick.
- Drizzle with a little sweet chili sauce for a hint of heat and a touch of sweet.
Go Saucy: Experiment with Sauces
Small swaps in the sauce mix deliver a new experience every time you make cashew chicken wraps.
- Peanut butter: If you’re out of cashew butter, try natural peanut butter for a slightly deeper flavor.
- Almond butter: Subtle nutty flavor and great for anyone avoiding cashews.
- A squeeze of lime or dash of hoisin sauce can transform the whole dish.
Top It Like a Pro
The topping choices are endless. Here are a few tasty options to put your own stamp on every wrap:
- Fresh cilantro or Thai basil: A sprinkle brings fresh flavor and bright color.
- Sesame seeds: Lightly toasted for a deeper, nutty aroma.
- Chopped green onions: Brightens up the plate every time.
- Chopped peanuts: For those who like extra crunch or need a cashew alternative.
Mix and match, or let everyone at the table pick their favorites!
Inspired by Other World Flavors
A few international twists—each brings a playful spin while keeping prep simple and stress-free.
- Add pineapple chunks for a hint of sweetness, like a tropical stir-fry.
- Stir in a tiny dab of curry paste for a subtle Thai vibe.
- Toss in ginger and a splash of orange juice for a zesty finish.
